Someone RSVP'ed to my 4th of July Party

Casuree has let it be known that she needs one extra ticket to the Netz-Lafitte-Carrigan-Roberts 2014 Fourth of July Party Extravaganza.

Seems that she plans for a "special delivery" on the 4th of July.

If you need special help interpreting the pictures (because I did), there is special meaning behind Kambrie's BLUE handprints (It means she is going to have a baby brother!)

New Driver Alert!

How did this happen?!!
My sweet, first born nephew some how climbed behind the steering wheel of a car this week and  magically became old enough to drive.  What?  How?  When?

I cant believe it's true.  He should still be riding his scooter not driving Buster's car!

Thank you Brenn, for getting your learners permit so that Aunt Stacy has someone else that she can call when she needs someone to run over to the Julibee for some milk.  I'll be calling you.

It's Award Season!

Golden Globes, Grammies, Academy Awards oh my!

And now this knucklehead .......
Went and won himself one of these!
I told Aaron if I was going to spend so much money buying him that fancy suit, he better win.
Well I guess he showed me!!

I don't know if you can see that number there in the middle of that award (that is suitable for framing) but it says 1st place!!
And for anyone who isn't familiar with the letters "FBLA", it stands for Future Business Leaders of America.
Look our America---There's a Future Business Leader in town wearing a shiny gold award necklace around his neck, packing a 1st place certificate who's going to do some 1st place public service announcing with his super proud momma chasing behind him snapping pictures for the blog.

Aaron Jean Homecoming King!

Yes, the rumors are true---Aaron Jean Lafitte just may be too good to be true!

Just when you think he is done being amazing, he goes and pulls this little stunt........
Aaron Jean Homecoming King 2013

Forgive me if I gush but this kid was a CHAMP during Homecoming Week.
I hope you are able to hear everything the announcer says as Aaron is walking off the track

And I would be remiss if I didn't acknowledge every kid that rallied around Aaron, made sure that he OK and that participated in his well deserved King-ship.  If it weren't for those kids, Aaron would have missed out on the whole experience.  I don't know how we will ever be able to thanks those kids for being there for him.

And if I could pick a Miss Congeniality, it would be Aaron's date, Molly.  She could have bailed on the whole situation but that sweet girl stuck in there and they ended up having a great time.  Molly: consider yourself crowned, sashed and a handed a dozen roses for being such an amazing, graceful young woman during that awkward, difficult weekend.

And thank you to Aaron's date crew.  We had to throw together the dinner date but I think considering the circumstances, we managed to pull it off!

First day of school 2013

Happy First Day of School Aaron Jean Washing Machine.

It's gonna be an amazing year for this kid.
First of all it's his senior year.
Second of all, apparently he is majoring in "hair farming" (I did not sign off on this hair-do).
And third of all, he is a STUDENT BODY OFFICER.

I am so jealous proud of this kid!  He is the Morgan High Tech Student Body Officer.  It comes with this really pretty sweater and t-shirt outfit.  And if you know anything about the members of the Lafitte family, we enjoy a good outfit!

There were no Tech Student Body officers back when I was in high school so I had to learn all about his fancy new position.  I have found out that he is in charge of all things audio/visual and technology related.  This includes, but is not limited to, being the DJ/naughty dancing crowd control at all the dances, something or other with morning announcements, creating super awesome videos, ect.  He put together this video for the end of the last school year.......

Our house has been a revolving door of kids and the other student body officers as they have been gearing up for the first week of school.  He will be DJ'ing a welcome back stomp on Friday.  There are agendas, schedules and other papers all over my house with all of his SBO activities.  And he always travels in a pack of friends.

He is definitely living my the dream.

July 4th--2013 version

Just so you know... even though my last substantial blog post was last year's 4th of July party, I have not forgotten how this thing works!

So lets get on with a run down of the Lafitte/Netz/Carrigan/Roberts/Marshall 4th of July Extravagaza!

Every good part starts with the food.

While we were waiting for the grill, we worked on this year's t-shirt project.  Our project this year involved crayons, sand paper and an iron.

 Buster acted as grill master/chit-chatter.

Our first minute to win it game was for the guys.  I was called:
"See who can thaw out and put on a t-shirt that has been frozen in an ice block".
I made the mistake of stating the there were no rules to this game.  This is Chaston attempting to smash and destroy his way through the ice.
Lydon was going to pick his way to his shirt.
Aaron was ultimately the winner.  He ran his shirt under 5 bazillion gallons of hot water.  His prize for winning this game?  He will be paying my city water bill this month for wasting all that hot water!
This is the rest of us sitting around while Buster was in the house microwaving his shirt.  Boyd tried to grill his shirt.
And Brennon and Chaston finally destroyed their way through their ice block.
Each year we have divided the gang up into two teams and had them create a 4th of July character out of newspaper and a roll of masking tape.  We have done Uncle Sam and the Statue of Liberty in years past.  This year........the bald eagle.

Team Red:  mapping out their plan
Team blue:  not wasting any time mapping out a stinkin' plan.

And then things got all serious up in here when Yo Bob threw down and went to work with a pair of scissors and some newspaper for the red team

Carol worked the side lines and finished work on the shirts while the hilarity ensued.

But no matter how much Yo Bob contributed to the red team, nothing could beat the awesomeness of this:
 Contrats Blue Team!
 And as crowning Miss Congeniality....
 The Red Team.

After a minor delay that was brought to us by Kiazer the dog in the minute to win it pool, we moved on to game #2.
Tiff vs. Lydon in the marble pick up with your toes game.
Tiff now has the new nick name of monkey feet because that girl can pick up marbles in record time!!  Lydon didn't stand a chance.  Even Kiazer had to come back to check out the action.

Game #3  Stacking cans on a paper plate that is floating in a bowl of water.  You would think that the logical child would understand that stacking the cans would mean standing one can on top of the other.  But not to Aaron and Brennon.  Check out how each of theme interpreted "stacking".
After a re-read of the rules and a re-start of the minute to win it clock, Aaron was declared the winner (even with the wind blowing)
Our last game involved Casuree, Nate, Frisbees and aiming at water bottles.
It was not as easy as it sounds and after a couple of rounds of six Frisbees each, Nate was finally able to hit ONE (I repeat, Nate hit ONE) bottle.
The sun started to go down so we had to wind the festivities down with our food craft.  This year we created mini fruit pizzas in patriot colors of red (strawberries) gold (pineapple) and blue (blueberries).

We also had one more craft.  We made popper launchers out of toilet paper rolls and balloons but it looks like we did not get any photographic evidence of the launchers.

We concluded our evening with a delightful fireworks show by Chaston, Brennon and Aaron before finally settling in an watching.........
THE BIG ONES!!!!
